Los Angeles Public Library
    (Branding)

The Los Angeles Public Library is the home to more than six million volumes, serving the largest population of any public library in the US. There are 72 branches spread across the city, serving their own neighborhoods.

This branding project focuses on instilling the same cultural importance and history that the library has to offer in its visual identity, by emphasizing the diverse public services this institution provides for the city.

The logotype uses two typefaces (sans and serif) to represent the history and contemporary.

The visual language uses gridding and geometric structures to reference the sectioning of disciplines and shelving, as well as the simple functionality of the public library system in its organization.

Using a modular system, the location can be interchanged to refer to all 72 branches by assigned acronym. e.g. er (eagle rock); wh (west hollywood)
